Thinking forward...
I am starting to make a list of goals, I'm posting them here so I can find them and track them. January 1, 2010, I will come back and make these firm commitments or change them. For now I am musing.
1. Exercise more - I'd love to do once a day, but I have three kids... so I am setting a goal of 3 times a week.
2. Eat better - I'm not sure what that will look like. I will ponder for a few more days and then set a concrete goal.
3. No credit cards - my goal is to be debt free other than the mortgage by Aug 7, 2012. My first commitment is to stop credit card use. I also need to find a few little areas to cut back spending. I have stuck to my budget for 5 months, now I need to get serious and find areas to trim.
4. Cook better - this ties into #2. I need to spend a little more time planning so that we eat less pizza and cereal for supper. (Although I really like cereal for supper and so dos my son!)
5. Blog more - I am pleasantly surprised how therapeutic writing can be. I need to ponder on how much detail to give about the family as I am married to Mr. Private! I also need to be aware of FOIP when talking about students.
6. Drink more water.
excellent pondering ... all good "big" ideas, but the specifics will make it successful. my two cents worth:
ReplyDelete1. exercise more: commit to going around the block (to the gym, yoga, whatever) at least x times a week; increasing to y times a week.
2. eat better: commit to getting x servings of fruits/veggies a day, or to eating out only x number of times, or making x number of meals on the weekend for use throughout the week, or, or, or ...
3. no credit cards: only use one credit card for next x months, eliminate all use of credit cards by december 2010
4. cook better: see #2
5. blog more: write one blog entry a week on a topic
*family friday - tell a funny story about the munchkins (give them nicknames to avoid privacy issues
*wordless wednesday - just post a picture you like that means something to you & let it speak to others
*snacking saturday - a recap of fun food you made that week, or some healthy treat you found
of course, you can still post about any topic anytime, but have a few of these in your bag of tricks for when the week is almost over and you haven't posted!
6. drink more water: commit to drinking x number of water bottles during the school day and one before you get to school and one between hometime and bed
again, these are just my thoughts, go wherever you want with them!
also, for 2010, i went with the "spies" method for goal setting: spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social (2 each) ... they will be up on the 1st and i am excited to see where our goals take us!!
Good feedback - I have a few days left to tinker on them. I'd like 7... just cause its my favourite number.
